The Muse has curated this exhibition, which includes an installation of an audio/visual interactive exhibition featuring six artists. Painters, photographers and writers, in addition to an audio on women’s political and social movements in Sudan. We aimed to use different mediums to tackle the themes of the project while involving the audience in the perception of the artworks.

Participating Artists

Ula Osman

Ula Osman, 23 years old, Self-taught independent photographer and documentary photographer based in Khartoum, Sudan, trying to explore and mix between art and documentary photography. She covers current affairs and contemporary social issues and focuses on social development. She is documenting all aspects of women's lives and experiences to reinvent notions of creativity and confidence in the realm of women, which materialises itself in photographing of subjects that exude resilience, power, and a humbling sense of confidence. Ula also works to highlight overlooked parts such as feelings, texture, trauma, peace, love, community, and gender identity. Her work was shown in galleries, books, Magazines and ثورة! festivals such as Les Rencontres d'Arles. "Thawra Revolution!, Sudan Year Zero with IFRS and CEDEJ Khartoum. Süddeutsche Zeitung 2020, Sudan Women Protest Exhibition 2019.

Amani Azhari

Amani Azhari Babiker, 23, studied at the Sudan University of Science and Technology, Department of Painting. She has participated in many workshops that use the arts as a means of awareness and social development, including a workshop with UNDP, an awareness workshop on the harmful effects of female circumcision, and a workshop on the use of medicines with the World Health Organisation. Amani has participated in many group exhibitions, such as Their Coffee is Art (House of Heritage, 2021), Khali Dua exhibition (Downtown Gallery, 2021), Bait AlNisa exhibition (Savannah Gallery. 2020), Aspirations (Downtown Gallery, 2021), Pink Flame (Tewasart Gallery 2022).

Maab Tajualdin

Maab is a self-taught artist who delved into painting in 2015 and graduated from architecture school in 2021. Maab’s work is focused on her passions, including women's rights, marginalised communities, and minority issues. She’s currently working as a Toubs designer and painter (Toub is the Sudanese traditional women’s costume) and an art teacher assistant while creating art collections reflecting her visions and hopes for her people.

Roaa Kamal

Roaa Kamal is a bachelor's degree holder from the Sudan University of Science and Technology, College of Fine Arts, Department of Painting and Colouring. I graduated in 2012. I opened my first solo exhibition at the French Cultural Center in 2015. And the second exhibition at Universal Café Restaurant 2016. And the third exhibit, "Line", at the Turkish Cultural Center in 2022. I participated in many group exhibitions, including (Baba Costa Center, Donia Dabanga, Downtown Gallery, Khartoum International Fair, Afra Mall, National Museum Gardens, Ozon, and others...). And participated in an exhibition in Kenya in September 2022. I participated in the "Yalla Khartoum" project with a group of plastic artists in 2015.
