Stories From the Cubs This program uses the arts as a catalyst to reach and connect to vulnerable youth, promoting positive change and forging constructive connections between youth in vulnerable stages and their community. Who are the cubs? The cubs are a group of 12-16-year-old boys and girls in residence at the Geraif reformatory centre in Khartoum, Sudan. Geriaf Reformatory Center or the Cubs Education Home for boys and girls who are under the age of 18 and fell victim to legal crimes as a result of the circumstances surrounding them. The current group at the centre holds 30 young boys. Stories from the Cubs were implemented in partnership with Education without Borders, professional art therapists and qualified art trainers.Creative expression is a powerful tool for youth to tell their stories, cultivate healthy coping skills, and connect with others. This program uses the arts as a catalyst to reach and connect to vulnerable youth, promoting positive change and forging constructive connections between youth in vulnerable stages and their community. The project workshop trainers met with youth and worked with professional artists and mentors to express their thoughts and clarify their experiences through drawing and painting, learning how art can be used as a positive, creative outlet and viable coping and healing mechanism. Goals Telling stories through art and using it as an outlet Under the mentorship and supervision of professional artists and creators, the participants use art as a means of self-expression and storytelling to produce final works resulting in an exhibition. Boost creative thinking and communication through art Empowering young boys with artistic skills and personal training The aim is to empower the participants with skills and knowledge in artistic fields under the supervision and mentorship of a professional artist and open up the possibilities to discover and grow hidden talents. Raise funds to help youth in the center Hosting an exhibition and event auctioning all artworks created throughout the workshop period to then donate the profits to the children as a reward for their work and to emphasise the importance of working as well as helping rehabilitate the centre. Stories From the Cubs is designed to work with a group of young boys in the Geriaf reformatory centre and hold workshops and training for them within the centre. The artworks were displayed at an exhibition by the end of the training and auctioned for sale. All revenues from work are donated back to help the children.

Art Session The Muse is a creative enterprise that aims to promote the spread of arts (with a focus on visual arts) in our community and establish life-long learning opportunities between participants. The Art Session aims to: Engaging the audience in the making of art and hosting galleries and events that ensure the encounter of artworks, artists and audiences. Bringing artists and art enthusiasts together in one space helps in strengthening the art community and sharing experiences with others and helps newcomers learn a thing or two. Attracting non-artists to experience the process of making art and being a part of the creative sector by introducing the materials and information needed to kick off a start towards exploring creativity and self-expression. The Muse has an initiative that has a goal of providing programs that enrich the visual arts scene, education and promotion in Khartoum, as we believe that providing arts & cultural information to people allows them to make better decisions, events & other attractions pull people to new arts & entertainment means, Arts exploration helps people connect with the community and project issues and changes to help better our society. The Muse Art Session is a call for visual artists and art enthusiasts to gather and create art in a shared space.

Sawti Zine Launch Program The Zine is a platform for East African artists (both local and diasporic) from different disciplines to have their work showcased. A lot of the cross-collaboration is facilitated in our workshops with artists in London, Birmingham, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Khartoum, however, there is also an open callout that allows the zine to encompass a wider reach.
